Our founding member, Dominick J. Robustelli worked during his first ten years for a firm in Stony Point, Rockland County. He did defense work representing people who were sued and their insurance company would assign the firm he was working for to represent their insured. He also started representing injured clients while at that job.
The next eight years of his practice was with a large personal injury firm in White Plains, New York. He eventually became a partner in that firm and became the managing partner of a firm with 57 employees. At the White Plains firm he represented many seriously injured clients. His personal clientele grew in Westchester County and in 1993, he moved to Goldens Bridge, New York. As his client base grew in Westchester County and it was time to form his own law firm, he decided to open up in White Plains, New York.
The firm is centrally located in White Plains, New York to serve clients from Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Scarsdale, Tuckahoe and New York City, including the Bronx. Mr. Robustelli was born and raised in the Bronx outside of Parkchester, New York and has many Bronx clients and is within a 20 minute drive to Supreme Bronx Courthouse.
The White Plains office is a few blocks from Supreme Court, Westchester County and the Westchester Surrogate’s Court. Mr. Robustelli has been a member of the Westchester Bar Association located in White Plains, New York since 1986 and has been a member of a number of not for profit organizations in Westchester County. He a supporter of the National Council for Alcohol and Drug dependency, joining their fund raising luncheons and dinners to support alcohol and drug education to the young.
As a member of the Westchester County Bar Association, Mr. Robustelli participates in the Trial Lawyers Committee which teaches about trial work and sponsors continuing education and other trial lawyers put on mock trials for the young attorneys of the Westchester County Bar Association. He has also participated in and has been a part of the mock trial put on by Pace University School of Law. He sat as a Judge and watched high school students put on an appeals case for the Appellate Division. The mock trials are for high schools throughout Westchester County. He has also participated in Pace Law School mock trials where the case is presented by Pace Law students. These mock trials continue until the final two sets of attorneys, among groups of students, put on the final mock trial in the Westchester County Courthouse and are judged by real Supreme Court Judges.
Mr. Robustelli has been a member of The New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) for a number of years. This group is for New York trial attorneys and sponsor many continuing legal education seminars. NYSTLA also lobbies legislators in the New York House of Representative and the New York State Senate. Each May a number of NYSTLA attorneys actually go to Albany to push for changes in the personal injury field and most important, lobby against bills that affect the personal injury field. NYSTLA was very instrumental in defeating the legislators’ attempt (with Governor Cuomo’s consent) to limit and cap damages in medical malpractice awards. The bill never made it to the legislators for a vote.
The is a constant battle in Albany to fight lobby groups for the insurance industry who always try to limit time periods, types of personal injury cases and deprive the public access to the Courts and affect negatively consumer rights to a trial by jury. Mr. Robustelli supports NYSLA monetarily and physically by attending NYSTLA events.
As Mr. Robustelli’s firm grew and a large number of clients came from upper Westchester County, White Plains is still within reasonable distance. Clients come from Somers, Granite Springs, Yorktown, Goldens Bridge, Peekskill and Mount Kisco. It was only after the firms clientele grew from Putnam and Dutchess Counties that Mr. Robustelli opened the Somers, New York office for Putnam County, Dutchess County and Northern Westchester County clientele including Mahopac, Carmel, Brewster & Poughkeepsie.
